Happy February! We hope this newsletter finds you well. As we embark on another month of learning and growth, I wanted to welcome you to this latest edition of our newsletter. Our monthly newsletter is one of the ways we use to keep all parents of young and older children abreast of the great works our students and teachers do throughout all grades.
February is a very busy month for the Kindi community. This is just some of what we're working on: Parent Teacher Conferences, our 3rd Bake Sale, Quran Competition, preparing a meeting on the Wisconsin Nature's trip, practice for Encanto and the Spring Celebration, Eagles Volleyball games, Student Council functions, and indoor and outdoor Field Trips amongst numerous other items. The school nowadays is a beehive of activities and you cannot miss the energy around the building.
Our biggest event is coming up soon in about four weeks. It is our annual Spring Celebration in which ALL of our children will take part. We will be sending you the form to reserve your tickets and to get more details related to the event. We are excited about having the whole Kindi family get together on that night and enjoy an evening of talent, inspiration, and community.
As always, we encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or concerns. Our dedicated teachers and staff are here to support your child and help them reach their full potential. Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education and for being a great support for your children, our teachers, and the school. Hatem Elagha Executive Director Kindi Academy
Message from the Dean
Dear Kindi Family,
Happy February! I am always proud of the hard work of our Eagles in and out of the classroom. The cold winter weather has not stopped us from working hard and SOARing like an Eagle! I say this often but it rings true every single day…It’s always a Great Day to be an Eagle!
The month of January saw lots of conversations with our students about the importance of bravery and dreaming big. It’s inspiring to see students at such a young age have such big plans for themselves! Being in the classroom gives me the opportunity to see this firsthand, our 3-6 students got to draw pictures of their “dreams” for when they grow up. The 6-9 Students discussed the importance of setting goals for ourselves and shared what they want to be when they grow up. Our 4th-8th graders spent time during their SEL Classes discussing the importance of bravery and standing up for what is right. Every time I step into our classrooms I am reminded of how bright the future is because of the amazing students we have here and the big goals and dreams they have for themselves!
This month, our theme is tolerance. President John F. Kennedy once said, “Tolerance implies no lack of commitment to one's own beliefs. Rather it condemns the oppression or persecution of others.” In our SEL Classes, we will be discussing the importance of accepting others, respecting people’s differences and celebrating our diversity.
In other news, I want to remind everyone about our uniform policy. Please make sure your child(ren) are coming to school in the Kindi Uniforms (green/white polo with the logo, khaki pants/gym pants on gym days, etc.). For detailed information about the uniform policy, please see the School Handbook.
There is always something amazing happening here at Kindi Academy. Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff. I wish everyone another successful month here at Kindi!
As always, GO EAGLES!
Best Regards, Sevim Memisovski Dean of Students Kindi Academy

“The greatest gift we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.” ~Maria Montessori
Groundhog’s Day just passed, and Woodstock Willie saw his shadow, which means six more weeks of winter ahead of us - not surprising where we live! January was a slow-going month, but we were productive and busy! We presented the parts of a penguin and snowman. The children enjoyed making booklets of each. We have been practicing our songs and dances for the spring recital every week, and the children are excited to put on a show for their families! Thank you, parents, for taking out the time to go over lyrics and practice with your child at home too! Additionally, the children had an amazing time when Dave’s Reptiles visited Kindi for an in-school field trip! They got to see and touch a lizard, a 50-pound turtle, and even a couple of snakes! They learned a lot of facts about the animals and asked some great questions too. The children were so brave around the reptiles! Next month, the children will enjoy a puppet show and a visit from an author who will read to the children. We look forward to upcoming parent-teacher conferences to discuss the progress of your children!

Updates from our spanish classroom
Spanish with Maestra Maria: ¡Hola Familias!
This new year we have started working on preparing our songs in Spanish for the Spring Celebration. Children of all levels are memorizing the lyrics and learn the dance to the song. It is a very fun way to learn Spanish.
In addition, we have welcomed new students who are gradually adapting to Spanish classes. For them, it is the first time they have had contact with a new language, so they need time to adapt to practicing Spanish in the classroom.
I am excited about the great progress of the students in the 3-6 program. Every day they surprise me more by using new words and trying to communicate in Spanish. It is a great satisfaction for me as a teacher. We have carried out different activities related to the seasons (focusing on Winter), the clothes we wear in winter, the weather, the days of the week, the months of the year, the colors, the numbers, the family…
My students from the 6-9 program have also worked with great enthusiasm in the Spanish class. We remain very focused on writing and reading. They have finished writing the Spring Celebration song in their notebooks and are now in the song memorization challenge. It's a song with long and difficult lyrics, but I'm sure they'll get it. I can't wait for you to see them on stage! Also, we have carried out different activities related to Winter, basic geometric shapes, placement of adjectives in Spanish, reading basic phrases, and the calendar...
The 4th and 5th-grade students have finished Unit 2 of the book “¡Viva elespañol!”. They have achieved the proposed objectives: learn the colors, shapes, and names of some animals, describe their favorite animals, learn to coordinate nouns with adjectives (masculine, feminine, singular, and plural), and use definite and indefinite articles. Next Monday we will start working on the calendar and places in the city.
See you at the Spring Celebration!
Maestra María Spanish with Maestra Alicia:
Dear Parents,
I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to share with you some of the exciting things we've been learning in Spanish class.
4th. Grade This month in our Spanish class, we learned about common places in a town such as "el cine" (the movie theater), "la escuela" (the school), and "el parque" (the park). The students also practiced using the singular present tense forms of the verb -ir (to go) in Spanish, such as "voy" (I go), "vas" (you go), "va" (he/she/it goes). We believe that learning vocabulary and grammar rules in context will help your child better understand and retain the information. Our aim is to give them the tools to communicate effectively in Spanish and appreciate the cultural diversity it represents.
5th. Grade Our Spanish class has been focused on learning about the verb conjugation pattern -ir a + infinitive to talk about future activities and the use of singular subjects with regular -ar verbs. We have been practicing using the structure "ir a + infinitive" to express future plans and intentions, such as "Voy a ir al parque mañana" (I am going to the park tomorrow). This is a useful tool for students to express themselves in the future tense. In addition, we have also been reviewing the proper use of singular subjects with regular -ar verbs. This includes conjugating the verb to match the subject, as well as paying attention to the correct use of subject-verb agreement. We have been using a variety of engaging activities and exercises to reinforce these concepts, and the students have been making great progress. I am confident that they will continue to develop their skills and gain a deeper understanding of these important grammar points.
6th Grade This past month in Spanish class, we focused on the verb "gustar" and its use with nouns, as well as the conjugation of -er and -ir verbs. The students learned how to express their likes and dislikes using the verb "gustar." They also practiced using it in sentences with nouns, such as "Me gusta la pizza." In addition to "gustar", students have been practicing the conjugation of -er and -ir verbs in the present tense. These verbs are an important aspect of Spanish grammar and are used to describe actions and events in the present. We also did various activities to reinforce these concepts and make learning fun. The students were engaged and enthusiastic, and I was impressed with their progress.
7th/8th This week, we have been learning about rooms and household items in Spanish and how to use the verbs "ser" and "estar" to talk about people and things in our lives. Students have been doing an excellent job in learning the vocabulary and the correct usage of the verbs. We have been practicing speaking and writing sentences to describe our homes and the items in each room. They have also learned how to use "ser" to describe permanent characteristics, such as someone's nationality, and "estar" to describe temporary conditions, such as someone's mood. It has been a fun and interactive month, and I am sure your children will be eager to share with you what they have learned. Encourage them to use the vocabulary and verbs in conversation with you at home, as this will help reinforce their learning.
