Blessing Bags with Dupage Pads

The Upper Elementary class is excited to be working with Ms. Josie and DuPage PADS again!  Our Blessing Bag Drive was a huge success!  The students loved sorting the donations and packing them up in Ms. Josie’s car.  We were amazed by the generosity of our community!

PADS recently asked for our help again, and we were delighted to help.  We created bookmark gifts for the PADS volunteers, almost 1,000 in all!  We invited the 3rd graders to help and they loved being in the Upper Elementary room to work with the 4th graders.

Our students enjoy helping others and we plan to continue our partnership with PADS for years to come!

News from Montessori Toddler Room

Toddlers | May 2017 Newsletter

It has been a wonderful year in the toddler class. We are always amazed by the growth of the fifteen month old in the short span of ten months. As we think back to the beginning of the year when we started together, the children have grown and developed physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially.

Together, we have enjoyed the wonder of the world, embarked on toilet learning, shared conversation enhancing language vocabulary, and developed an awareness and consideration of others. We have worked on the ability to wait for a turn, and have developed sharp memory skills. Each child has gained independence and confidence.

We love the warmer weather as it enables us to be outside more often planting flowers and herbs in our outdoor environment. If you haven’t done so already, please send your child with a plant. Also as a reminder, please send rain boots with your child every day for our nature walks.

It is hard to believe that we are at the end of another school year at Kindi. We are so pleased to have had the opportunity to work with such wonderful families this year. Thank you to all for contributing towards the sharing baskets and being an extension of the classroom at home. We look forward to continuing in the summer and the next school year.

Our end of year picnic is on Saturday, May 20 at Philips Park Zoo. We are excited to celebrate the year together with some animals! Thank you for all of the ways you have supported your child’s development and for a wonderful school year.

Have a nice summer!
Ms. Tayyaba, Ms. Rena, Ms. Shamin

News From The Montessori 3-6 (Preschool to KG)

Montessori 3-6 Classroom Newsletter
It’s hard to believe, but the school year is just about to get over. While this school year was filled with many opportunities for dreaming and growth, we worked on building relationships with both students and their families. The continuous support of families and watching the children grow encourages the teachers to make Kindi a beautiful place!
This time of the year reminds us of a favorite quote from John A.Shedd: “A ship in a harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships are for.”  We see our Kindergarten children are all competent, confident, kind, compassionate students who are ready to sail on!
The month of April was spent learning about Spring, Earth day, the importance of recycling and studying about the life cycle of a butterfly. The kindergartners are building sentences, writing stories and reading fluently. The younger ones are starting to read gradually. Also many children have developed the handwriting skills. It was also, a great pleasure to see you all at the Barnes and Nobles book fair. Thank you for your participation and contribution.
We started to enjoy some warm weather finally.  We have spent so much time indoors and will be excited to spend time outside. This month, we are planning to do outdoor education activities like gardening, going on a nature walk, having picnics and doing ‘Line Time’ outside.   Also, in the classroom, we will continue our study about insects, understand food pyramid and make new recipes. While our Kindergartners are getting ready for their graduation, they  had hands-on experience on ironing their graduation gowns. We are also getting ready for the end of the school year. We will end the year, as usual, with our field day and KG graduation.
Our 3-6 teachers would like to thank you for so many things! A big thank you from all of us for the sumptuous breakfast and lunch  you served and the amazing gifts you gave us during teacher appreciation week. We feel appreciated. While we are so proud of the progress the students made through the year, we are also thankful for your support and participation in helping us educate your child. Be it reading moms, volunteers for the field trip, your support was tremendous.

News from Lower Elementary(1st-3rd Grade)

Dear Parents:
We hope everyone had a relaxing spring break. We had a wonderful Pajama Party for our first Spirit Day of the school year. Here are some glimpses of the fun day:
Our outdoor education field trip to Nature’s Classroom Institute was fantastic! The kids had a great time. The classes were superb and informative. The teachers were excellent. The outdoor hikes were serene and dorm rooms were comfortable. All the kids enjoyed the freedom, demonstrated responsibility, and followed rules. It was a perfect field trip! Kindi students received lots of compliments for their behavior. We hope to have more children come with us next year to NCI at Lake Geneva.
During April and May we will be busy presenting lots of materials (new concepts). Please avoid vacations during this time. Your children have accomplished beyond our expectations. Let’s keep up this momentum for the next two months of school.

The First year students will continue working on the United States of America (practicing the fifty states) in history and geography. In zoology, the students will study parts of a mammal and life cycles of different animals. In math, the students will practice telling time, golden beads multiplication and division and fractions. In language, the students will work on adjective study and chapter books.

The Second year students In math will continue working on fractions, types of angles, checkerboard: three digit multiplication and stamp game division: three digit divisor. In zoology, the students will work on invertebrate animal study and different types of vertebrates. In language, the students will work on sentence analysis, grammar study, different verbs and chapter books.

Our third graders will take the IOWA Test on April 25, 26 and 27th. We will do two weeks of intense test practice prior to the test. Please make sure your children sleep well and eat a healthy breakfast for those three weeks. Their psychological and physical well-being is very important during that time. Please make sure your children will not miss any practice time.
Along with test practice,  the third year students will work on the history of the United States of America, practice all fifty states and its capitals, Government of U.S.A., Systems of the Human Body, Periodic Table and Parts of an Atom.

As always, your child's well-being is our priority. If there are any concerns, either contact us through the school e-mail, by phone or send a note with your child.

Sincerely,
The 6-9 Montessori Teachers
